Budget vs flowers

2011 Budget has been announced and I knew it was just a matter of time before I get the dreaded call from my accountant and true to form; he called me the next day. I tried to prolong the pleasantries with the hope he might have a very busy day and cut our call short. No joy, he listened patiently and said "so what do you make of the budget and how do you think it would affect you?" I rolled my eyes in frustration, I did not know the answer, I wanted to go back to my sewing but he then went into the most boring five minutes of my life explaining how the budget could affect Cedarlia.

Tut tut, he realized I was not really listening, I promised to call him next week. I went back to my sewing and looking out of the window day dreaming of summer. The picture below took my mind away from numbers, accountants and budget, I thought of what happiness is to me and some of them are gazing out of the window when the flowers in the garden are in full bloom, sewing, Alfresco dining in the summer, seeing my friends and making dolls.

There were three in the bed and the little one said "roll over"

The definition of sleep is something I have not considered until my two year old decided that mum and daddy’s bed is a much better resting place than his super cute nursery.  With his tiny body he manages to squeeze us out of the bed. Mr Cedarlia has landed at least 3 times on the floor in the middle of the night and I've been saved by the wall on a few occasions but just. Sleep deprived, we wake up every morning to the little one fully energised and roaring to go while for us we're looking forward to the first cup of coffee to combat sleep deprivation.

I had to do something. I ordered these beautiful sleep angels, hand made and stuffed with the best Lavender in the world from Provence in France. They can be made with personalised message as well as different colours of thread. I placed it in his nursery bed and now the gentle smell of lavender rocks him to sleep. So far so good, his visits to our room has now been cut down from frequent visits to two odd days. These sleep angels may have a similar effect to your loved ones so I decided to stock the sleep angel in the store. To view, visit http://www.cedarlia.com/Products/107-sleep-angel.aspx.

Promises of Spring flowers

My shop is fully opened again after months underground, we have been busy with exhibitions and road shows, in 2010 we did ideal home show, baby show in Birmingham as well as Earls court in London. 2010 was hectic, glad we finished with a bang.
A belated welcome to 2011, posting my first post on the 17th of March, what is the significance? not much, I feel this is the time to usher in spring and kick off my blogging again.

I have started my spring celebration a full 7 days before the official day, so a big welcome to spring,
welcome bees and flowers, welcome all things bright and beautiful.

Baby shower for two

Yesterday was a stressful day, my two friends who consider each other as frienemies have decided to fix their baby shower on the same day, coincidence? I think not. One lives in South London the other one in North London. Time 3PM sharp. There was a note at the bottom of the text from North London saying” please do not be late, I know there are road works in certain areas and she attached a link of road work sites so we can search and avoid them. I would therefore allow 30 minutes for those who would use traffic as an excuse! She finishes off the text with double exclamation mark. Is it a subtle warning to me?

What to do!!! I had already planned to use the traffic excuse. I must attend the two baby shower as they're both my childhood friends and I cannot possibly disappoint them. To make matters worse, I have been given special responsibilities by each, North London instructed me to pick up some cup cake from humming bird bakery on the way, while South London asked me to make 20 goody bags and bring them before 3pm so she can set them up before the guests arrives.

I decided to give the above prints to each of them. I plan to also give them a gorgeous handmade sign for their little one, both from Cedarlia.

Stickysaurus and all the Dinosaurs in between

It's the third day of the new year with the Christmas banquets and festivities seeming like a far distant memory. Gradually waking up to a new week of daily grind and wishing that you had the devine power to stop the time ticking away.

I woke up this morning to parcel some items for the post man, humming away to Lady gaga when I heard the familiar pata pata of my son's feet on the wooden floor, as he opened the kitchen door. There comes along my little one bringing me to the reality of the havoc he's about to embark on. My two year old dinosaur obsession reigns supreme in our household and what he sees with the stickysaurus limited edition print by Clinton Banbury I can't work out

I quickly hid the print behind my back but he had already spotted the dinosaur and that was it. War in the kitchen as he cried, and screamed. I immediately went to his toy cabinet and pulled out his favorite dinosaur in the world, Dino Dino I sang, he looked at me and firmly said NO! NO! Instinctively, I handed over the stickysarus print.

This beautiful print is a limited edition giclĂ©e print, edition size 195, signed and numbered by the artist. You can frame and hang it or just stick it on the wall. Whichever method you choose works as it brightens the nursery which is what I did when he got tired of admiring the dinosaur and went off to the bathroom to change the colour of his hand to look like sitckysaurus (I think)? I found it at the bottom of the stairs on Sunday and Mr. Cedarlia helped me hang it in his nursery.
